Yoga for Grief

Join Megan Riley, RYT 200 for an evening exploring how yoga can support your journey through grief.

Megan was first drawn to the yoga practices of meditation, chanting mantra, and breath techniques as a way to deal with the various effects of grief after losing her father at the age of 12. Since then, Megan’s study of yoga has evolved and been a system of support through all of life’s events. Through yoga, she has found acceptance and appreciation for the depth of human emotion. She is passionate about sharing her experiences and these yoga techniques with others so as to offer grieving students a path towards healing.

The evening will be spent discussing and practicing the following yoga techniques and how they relate to grieving:
- Meditation
- Pranayama (breath techniques)
- Chanting mantra
- Asana (physical yoga postures)- this will consist of a 75-minute beginner level class.

Yoga can be inherently therapeutic, but should not replace psychotherapy or medical treatment for those struggling with depression, anxiety, or any mental health disorders.
This course is appropriate for anyone who has or is currently experiencing grief. No yoga experience required. Please wear clothes you can move in comfortably.
